Gotham Drawings

Below are my drawings of some of the characters that roam the streets of Gotham. It started out as a drawing exercise with the heroes, which was my attempt at mimicking classical poses of the characters. Then I acquired the Gotham City Chronicles RPG game and sought to create my own visual representations of the characters to show my friends as references. This was before I even got a single one of the GCC minis. So the appeal turned towards one of the most interesting aspects of the Batman mythology: the Rogues Gallery. I just lost myself and found myself drawing one villian after the next until before I knew it, I had the original 24 drawings within a week. With each one, I was focusing on different areas and more dynamic poses instead of direct comic translations. Most are in a state of good rough sketches, some a bit more refined.

Ultimately, it led me to start finalizing the drawings while also starting to practice inking, the classic comic technique of applying ink to shade the dark areas to improve the printing process. Of course I started by translating a classic Batman image, before I moved on to unfortunately my best drawing: the Joker. (I HATE the Joker as a character) But it turned out really good as it was my most dynamic pose and I'm proud of how it turned out. Eventually my goal is to redo the orignal extended Bat-Family drawings, add more heroes and rogues, and then ultimately ink each and every one. We'll see how it goes.
